High Desert Stampede

Share

Experience the High Desert Stampede in Redmond.

There’s the business end of a bull and right now it’s rattling the metal of the chute as a brave rider lowers himself onto the back of 2,500 lbs of fight. He wraps the rope tight around his hand and prepares for an explosion of power. Welcome to the High Desert Stampede in Redmond. It’s where local cowboys and fans from afar come to watch pro riders in the prime of their sport—riding bulls and broncs, roping and wrestling cattle, and running barrels over four days from April 1-4. But for now, it’s all come down to this quiet moment between human and beast. A quick nod, suddenly the gate opens, and everything gets loud as thousands cheer as they watch  this Western spectacle. Redmond is where memories are made, and this is an indelible one.

Small Town, Big Time Rodeo.

This isn’t the kind of rodeo you’d expect to find in a place the size of Redmond. As an annual Top 60 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Playoff series stop, the High Desert Stampede has established itself as a fast-paced, entertaining event that draws a wide variety of spectators. Avid fans come to see if they can catch a glimpse of the next world champion. That is, when they’re not busy taking in views of the spectacular peaks and High Desert scenery right outside the stadium door. It’s the full embodiment of a western way of life that’s firmly planted in our welcoming community.

Hoots and Hollers Welcomed Here.

You know those friends who ask you to quiet it down when you’re too loud in their house? Yeah, us neither. Cowboy culture is alive and well in Redmond. Chances are the boots of the person next to you were out on the range earlier that day. But the love you both share, even if you’re from a place that’s a bit more citified, is all the same. Together you’re watching the thrills and spills that make this place, and this sport great. We like to think horses and cowboys help bring more than cattle together, they bring people together, too.

Your Ticket to the Finals.

Chances are good you’ve gotten the rodeo itch after seeing all this excitement. You may want to take it a step further by seeing the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Thankfully, there’s a direct path that will take you there with no dust in sight. Breeze Airlines now offers round-trip service there from the Redmond Municipal Airport. Catch all the action and come back with an incredible story.
